Tour Plan
Arrive at Nanyuki town, the gateway to Mount Kenya, where you meet your guides and porters for a thorough briefing. After permits and equipment checks, drive to the Sirimon Gate (2,600m) and begin your ascent through lush montane forest filled with giant groundsels and lobelias. The trail gradually climbs as you make your way to Old Moses Camp at 3,300 meters, nestled beneath rocky outcrops. Enjoy a well-deserved dinner and rest, preparing for the challenging days ahead.
After an early breakfast, continue your climb along the ridges of the Sirimon route, where alpine vegetation replaces the forest. You’ll traverse heathlands and moorlands with stunning views of the peaks ahead. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp, situated near Lake Michaelson at 4,200 meters, a perfect spot to acclimatize. Take time to rest and enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the rugged mountain landscape.
Begin the day early—around midnight—to start your summit push toward Point Lenana, the highest trekkable peak on Mount Kenya. Trek through steep and rocky terrain, crossing alpine meadows and glaciers. Reach the summit just in time for a spectacular sunrise over the surrounding peaks and valleys. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Old Moses Camp for a hearty lunch and overnight rest.
On your final day, trek down through the forested slopes back to Sirimon Gate where your transport awaits to take you back to Nanyuki. Reflect on your incredible journey as you enjoy the scenic drive. Depart with unforgettable memories of your Mount Kenya adventure and plans for future climbs.
