Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and begin your scenic drive through Uganda’s lush countryside toward Kibale Forest National Park, home to the world’s greatest concentration of chimpanzees. Along the way, pass tea plantations, crater lakes, and local villages before arriving at your forest lodge near Fort Portal. Spend the evening relaxing in the heart of the jungle, preparing for the wild encounters ahead.
After an early breakfast, head to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before setting off on your chimpanzee trek. Guided by expert trackers, venture into the rainforest to find one of the lively chimp communities. Witness their fascinating behavior — from grooming rituals to playful chases — in their natural environment. After lunch, take a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in birdlife, monkeys, and botanical treasures. Return to your lodge for dinner and an evening of jungle serenity.
Depart Kibale after breakfast and enjoy a picturesque drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sanctuary for nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey, though long, is breathtaking — offering rolling hills, terraced farms, and glimpses of rural Ugandan life. Arrive at your lodge tucked on the edge of the forest and settle in as the mist rolls over the treetops, building anticipation for the adventure of a lifetime.
Today is the highlight of your safari — gorilla trekking in the ancient, mist-covered Bwindi Forest. After a pre-trek orientation, head into the dense jungle with your ranger guide and trackers. The trek can take several hours, but the reward is unforgettable: a full hour spent face-to-face with a mountain gorilla family, observing their powerful presence and gentle interactions. Back at the lodge, enjoy a celebratory meal and perhaps a soothing massage to end a day you’ll never forget.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe, either by scenic road transfer or optional domestic flight (depending on your preference and itinerary). Arrive in time for your evening departure flight, carrying with you indelible memories of Uganda’s warm people, ancient forests, and the humbling presence of primates in the wild.
