Welcome to Namibia! Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek, a Sipolio Africa Safaris representative will meet and assist you with your transfer to a charming guesthouse or boutique hotel in the city. Settle in and enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring Windhoek’s colonial architecture, craft markets, and local cafes. In the evening, savor a welcome dinner with Namibian delicacies and a briefing about the adventure ahead.
After breakfast, begin your journey south through the dramatic Khomas Highlands and down into the Namib Desert. Arrive at your lodge near Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei. Spend the late afternoon relaxing by the pool with panoramic views of the desert plains. As night falls, stargaze under some of the clearest skies in the world, where the Milky Way lights up the desert like a silver ribbon.
Rise early for a magical sunrise excursion to the towering red dunes of Sossusvlei. Climb iconic Dune 45 and explore the surreal landscape of Deadvlei, where ancient camelthorn trees stand in stark contrast to white clay pans. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for a hearty lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure or opt for an optional scenic flight over the desert for a bird’s-eye view of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Depart the desert and travel northwest through ever-changing landscapes until you reach the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal town of Swakopmund. This charming seaside town blends colonial-era architecture with a laid-back vibe. Check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner at a local seafood restaurant as the cool ocean breeze refreshes you.
Today is yours to enjoy Swakopmund at your pace. For thrill-seekers, optional activities include sandboarding, quad biking on the dunes, or skydiving. Alternatively, take a scenic boat cruise from nearby Walvis Bay to see dolphins, seals, and possibly whales, all while sipping champagne and enjoying oysters. Return to town for some souvenir shopping and a relaxed evening by the sea.
Head north along the eerie and beautiful Skeleton Coast, where shipwrecks and windswept beaches tell tales of maritime misfortune. Continue inland to Damaraland, home to some of Namibia’s most dramatic scenery—rugged mountains, dry riverbeds, and desert-adapted wildlife. Settle into a remote lodge and soak up the serenity of the wilderness.
Spend the day exploring Damaraland, including a guided nature drive in search of the elusive desert-adapted elephants. Visit Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient San rock engravings, as well as the fascinating Organ Pipes and Burnt Mountain formations. Return to your lodge for a campfire dinner beneath a canopy of stars.
After breakfast, journey east to Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. Arrive at your lodge just outside the southern entrance and enjoy your first game drive in the park this afternoon. Look out for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, and countless antelope species as you enter the heart of the wild.
Spend two full days on game drives in Etosha, exploring its unique salt pan and waterholes that attract an incredible variety of animals. Move between the central and eastern regions of the park, overnighting at lodges or camps inside or just outside the gates. Highlights include sightings of rhinos, cheetahs, and large herds of elephants. Evening hours can be spent watching animals gather at floodlit waterholes from the comfort of your lodge.
Travel south to Okonjima, home of the AfriCat Foundation. This private nature reserve is dedicated to the rehabilitation of cheetahs, leopards, and other predators. Enjoy an afternoon game drive or tracking experience to learn about conservation efforts and possibly spot big cats up close in their natural habitat. Relax in luxury at your lodge surrounded by acacia woodlands.
Depart Okonjima and drive to the striking Waterberg Plateau, a table mountain rising steeply from the plains. Check into your lodge at the base or atop the plateau and spend the afternoon exploring the lush trails and birdwatching. The area is also home to rare species like sable and roan antelope. Enjoy a sunset nature walk or a cultural visit to the nearby Herero community.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before making your way back to Windhoek through central Namibia’s open landscapes. Stop along the way for a local lunch or a visit to an artisan market. Arrive in Windhoek in the afternoon and check in for your final night. Celebrate your adventure with a farewell dinner at one of the city’s top restaurants, toasting to unforgettable memories.
After breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for some last-minute shopping or a city tour. You’ll then be transferred to the airport for your onward journey, taking with you the spirit of Namibia—its vast spaces, vibrant wildlife, and warm-hearted people—thanks to Sipolio Africa Safaris.
